You're garage door offers curb appeal and security and shelter on a daily basis. Regularly balance testing your garage door will ensure garage door and opener longevity and reduce unexpected breakdowns.
With the garage door in the full close position, release the garage door from the opener by pulling the red disconnect cord. Take caution when disengaging the automatic opener the door may begin to open by itself.

1. When running your garage door manually, a properly balanced garage door will stay in the full open position.

2. When running your garage door manually, a balanced garage door will stay in the partially open position 3-4 feet above the floor.
Garage door counter balance systems are under extreme tension and should only be serviced by a professionally trained technician.
If your garage door fails to balance in either of these positions, call a professional immediately to rebalance or replace your garage door springs. A garage door that is too heavy or not properly balanced will excessively wear the automatic garage door opener and potentially damage the garage door and it's hardware.
Most homeowners utilize the garage door on a daily basis. And don't think about regular maintenance and balance testing the garage door. All garage door manufacturers recommend annual maintenance.
